get system arp

Key points

  • The columns are Address (IP), Age (minutes since last seen), Hardware Addr (MAC) and Interface.
  • For a duplicate-IP investigation, watch whether the MAC for the same IP keeps flipping.
  • Only hosts on segments directly attached to the FortiGate appear. Hosts behind another router do not.

When it does not work

  • If a host is missing, it may not have talked to the FortiGate yet. Run execute ping <IP> from the FortiGate and check again.
  • With VDOMs enabled, enter the right VDOM first (config vdom, then edit <name>).
