show ntp status
SafeNTP on network gear
show ntp status
Verifies clock sync — untrusted timestamps poison every investigation, so NTP health is foundational.
Examples
show ntp associationsPeers and reachabilityshow clock detailCurrent time and its source (NTP or not)ntp server 192.168.1.1 preferSet a preferred server (config mode)ntp source Vlan10Pin the NTP source interface (config mode)clock timezone JST 9 0Set the time zone to JST (config mode)
Syntax
show ntp status / show ntp associations / (config)# ntp server <ip>
Key points
- Clock is synchronized means synced; unsynchronized (or stratum 16) means not.
- In associations, the line starting with * is the server currently synced to.
- After a reload or with a large offset, syncing can take several minutes.
When it does not work
- If it never syncs, check reachability to UDP 123, ACLs on the path and the source interface (ntp source).
- A reach value stuck at 0 means no replies from that server.
Before you run it
Read only.
