SafeAD replication

repadmin /replsummary

Checks replication status and errors between DCs.

Examples

Syntax

repadmin /replsummary | /showrepl

Key points

  • In replsummary, any DC with non-zero fails/total is where to look. A long largest delta means replication has been stuck for that long.
  • Error 1722 means the RPC server is unreachable (network or firewall), 8453 is an access problem, 8524 is a DNS lookup failure.
  • A DC that has not replicated for longer than the tombstone lifetime (180 days by default) can reintroduce lingering objects if brought back as is.

When it does not work

  • Access denied: run it with Domain Admins rights.
  • If repadmin is missing, add the RSAT AD DS tools.
